Job description

This position provides leadership for all aspects of the University Preparatory Program (UPP) including academic and strategic planning, admissions, and daily operations and maintains sound relationships with local, regional, and international stakeholders and professional networks.

The Director should work collaboratively with the enrolment management team as well as multiple constituents within AUBH including staff, faculty, program leads, and other units to enhance student learning and success.
Duties and Responsibilities include:

Recruitment of Prospective Students and English Language Lecturers:

  • Create and monitor the execution plan to ensure student learning and success including consistent touchpoints with new and returning students.
  • Develop and implement English assessment and placement tests to appropriately place students in their classes.
  • Advise current and prospective students regarding admission, registration, course selection, individualized plans of study, and graduation requirements.
    Academic Program Management:
    • Design, develop, implement, and oversee the Intensive English Program and UPP courses, advising sessions, community engagement opportunities, and other experiences that add to the students’ professional and educational development.
    • Develop and design the English language curriculum to include IELTS preparatory material.
    • Conduct ongoing program needs assessments, evaluations, and student surveys as appropriate, tracking responses and providing regular feedback for continuous program improvement.
      Course and Enrollment Management:
      • Determine the courses needed annually to support skills development and ensure that students graduate in a timely manner.
      • Maintain and utilize enrollment reports to inform decisionmaking and ensure effective delivery of the program.
      • Develop and maintain relationships with the business community and other key stakeholders in the local, regional, and international markets.
      • Lead the program team in creating a student experience that supports educational and professional development.
        Program Quality Assurance:
        • Develop an annual report on program delivery and outcomes and staff and student performance.
        • Coordinate with the institutional research office in matters related to internal audits and external accreditation and quality reviews.
        • Teach English courses to non-native English speakers.
        • Assists in any other duties assigned by the VP of Enrollment and Global Affairs as and when required.

          Qualifications and Experience required:

          • Graduate degree in English or Linguistics is required.
          • TESOL certification (or equivalent).
          • Experience teaching or work experience in a university setting.
          • Minimum of three years of experience in managing and monitoring education program or comparable in industry.**Preferred Experience: – Leading university preparatory programs and teaching English language to non-native English speakers.
            • Demonstrated experience engaging in business development opportunities.
              Skills and Competencies required:

              • Strong communication and relationship building skills with direct reports, peers, leadership, and external constituents, including the business community.

              • Working knowledge of planning and managing budgets, with extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures.
